The Council

The International Energy Justice Council is a collection of world-leading experts in energy policy who are seeking to encourage a more robust, equitable and fair approach to energy project development.

We offer expertise in the legislative, environmental and social requirements of developing energy infrastructures. At the core of our approach, we apply principles of equity and justice to the assessment of new projects, which include evaluations on availability, affordability, due process, inter- and intra- generational justice and sustainability. We therefore assist in:

  • Developing and implementing strategies
  • Project management
  • Auditing and analysis
  • Complying with new EIA requirements

Energy Justice

Energy justice aims to provide all individuals, accross all areas with safe, affordable and sustainable energy. It involves the full application of human rights to energy systems.

The International Energy Justice Council consists of experts dedicated to implementing the core principles of energy justice in practice, i.e. with organisations, business and government.

Sustainability

Using the genuine savings framework, we provide comparative assessments on resource exploitation.

Affordability

Assessments around Geographical Information Systems on the basis of heat and energy demand for the benefit of the poorest communities.

Inter-generational equity

Economic and legal based recommendations that identify new markets and legislative opportunities for long-term social equity

Due Process

Legal advice on complying with legislative norms in each of these areas, as well as indicating how businesses can go further.

Intra-generational equity

Assessments of unconventional energy systems through revealing injustices and indicating new market opportunities.
